The Greensolver team have once again completed their wind turbine Global Wind Organisation (GWO) First Aid training! Greensolver expects their Asset Managers and health & safety (HSE) staff to be well trained and aware of the risks and challenges that one might encounter when going on a wind energy site. When upholding a high HSE standard for all of our assets, Greensolver has to comply with this standard and upgrade its knowledge every year.
In addition, by mitigating the risks in their daily operations, the chances of ever having to use the skills learned during these GWO trainings is reduced, but the team is fully equipped to deal with those situations.
The team has successfully completed the refreshers in the First Aid, Fire Awareness training and Work and rescue at height on a wind turbine. Following the GWO standard they are assured of using a high safety standard that is recognized in many countries.
The Work & Rescue at Height module allowed the staff to refresh & upgrade their awareness on the following issues:
- Hazards & risks related to working at height
- National & current legislation
- Identification, inspection & use of PPE (e.g. harness, lanyards, fall arresters and work positioning equipment)
- Use of evacuation device: not only for a single or duo evacuation but also to rescue a casualty within the turbine
The GWO standard has trained the staff on preforming First Aid at height which includes: emergency management, use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and use of a First Aid equipment in a First Aid scenario that is likely to occur in a wind turbine.
During the Fire Awareness the Greensolver team had to demonstrate knowledge of the causes, development and spread of fire. Our team also had to demonstrate knowledge of how to handle fires and how to use fire extinguisher equipment in a wind turbine.
By upgrading & refreshing their qualifications, the Greensolver team is now in a position to better advise on-site team in case of emergency and more than that can handle safely every situation whether during operation and inspections.
